Brie de Meaux

Whew!  This has been a busy week.  It's the last week of classes before Christmas break and all the staff at school are counting down by the half day.  What better way to relax than to nosh upon cheese, marinated vegetables and cured meat.  Yum!

First stop, our favourite fromagerie.  We had rice crackers waiting at home, so something spreadable was required.

The "best Brie" according to the shop owner.  I don't know if that's true or not, but I'm not going to complain about it!

Of course it doesn't hurt to have some dill pickles, marinated garlic, stuffed grape leaves and salami on hand as well.  Bon appetit!

Our Cheese Shop

The cheese shop (AKA the fromagerie) across the street from our apartment. We were originally a bit hesitant about shopping there because we didn't want to seem like cheese-newbs or country hicks and the large selection of cheeses without names or prices can be overwhelming.

But that lasted all of about 2 weeks. Now there are times that we go in there 3 or 4 times a week, sometimes for "snackin" cheese like Brie, Camembert or Bleu and other times for cooking cheeses, recent examples of Manchego and aged Provolone.

Opening Remarks

We (C and J) decided to start this blog because we love cheese and are far too lazy to maintain a written record of all the cheeses we come across while we're noshing and cooking.  Since we figure that the internet needs far more random information, we'll just add pictures and comments to it and it'll go wherever we do as well.

For context, we're currently in Toronto, Ontario--C's home town.  Specifically at the Eglinton and Bathurst area and are literally living across the street from a fromagerie.  I can't tell you how often we step into this shop... it's rather embarrassing.

We hope that you'll enjoy adventuring with us!
